Acapela speaks up in the Nordic Countries

November 15th, 2007

Acapela Group, the European leader in speech solutions, enriches its Nordic portfolio with two additional new voices. Developed with cutting-edge technology, Alva and Sanna are the latest voices applied to speech-enabled products or services.

Acapela Group aims to permanently enrich its language and voice product line to fully answer market requirements and user needs. Using its cutting-edge technology, Acapela offers natural sounding male and female voices for a wide range of languages.

Speech-enabled solutions can be employed in various applications and are currently implemented by existing Swedish voices, Erik and Emma, for tools such as Navigation, Interactive Voice Response, Accessibility solutions, E-learning, Talking Web and Audio-books.

Daniel Erkstam, Managing Director at ReadSpeaker Scandinavia will soon integrate the new Nordic voices to his company’s portfolio of services. "By offering two new voices we can provide enhanced and improved products for talking web, pod-casting and audio-books. These voices will take speech technology for Nordic languages to a new level, with the added advantage of being suitable to read official information as well as news, articles and other content."

Tomas Stark, Head of Systems Design and Development at LEKAB Communication Systems AB, will also use Alva: “Our automated solutions for alerting, incident handling and escalation require a high level of quality from voice synthesis applications. The new Alva voice is an important addition to meet our clients’ vocalisation needs. Customisation is important in order to fine tune solutions for specific business processes.”

Polar Print delivers speech solutions to assist the visually impaired and others with reading difficulties. The visually impaired often use screen reading programs in order to access computers. But when it comes to reading longer texts the quality of the speech is very important. “That is why we have great expectations for Alva which enables the visually impaired to read text directly from a computer screen or voice enabled web pages and to transform texts into audio books through text-to-speech content reading”, states Staffan Syk, Managing Director at Polar Print.

By introducing Alva, Acapela is particularly proud in having a louder voice for the Swedish market and consequently to offer an even wider selection of voices for speech-enabling products and services. This extends to neighbouring Finland and the introduction of the new Finnish voice Sanna, providing customers with an authentic and high quality Nordic voice.

Acapela Voice Factory: Create the right voice for your brand identity
Today companies are showing an increasing interest in the use of personalised voices for customer communication services. In response to this growing demand, Acapela has launched a new, technologically viable and cost-effective solution called Acapela Voice Factory. This application develops natural sounding voices and reproduces the timbre of a selected voice, in a lead-time compatible with short development cycles.

Sweden was the first country to implement Acapela Voice Factory in collaboration with its partner Voice Professional. To celebrate the launch of this new product, Swedish Telecom actors were invited to meet and listen to the “Factory’s” first voice called Fia.

The use of voice solutions is interesting not only from a technical perspective but is also a powerful tool in establishing a company’s brand identity. By using the same voice for all voice-related services, a company can harmonise customer communication for example. With 25 years of experience, Acapela offers substantial and proven solutions adapted to different market requirements through a wide range of products, services and industry expertise. Currently the language portfolio consists of 25 languages and more than 50 voices.
