Mobile Speak Pocket: Acapela TTS speech enables Code Factory Pocket PC solution.

From reading aloud any text or incoming information to browsing Internet on the move, Mobile Speak Pocket opens up mobile computing avenues for blind and visually impaired people. Mobile Speak Pocket users can now enjoy the complete access to windows mobile mainstream devices like a sighted person at mainstream prices. Mobile Speak Pocket works with a variety of keyboards, braille devices available on the market. The user has the complete flexibility to chose a PDA or a Smartphone and add Mobile Speak Pocket to it. The integration of Acapela multilingual text to speech allows us to satisfy the needs of our distributors throughout Europe, with a single engine, and to offer to end users the choice to combine different languages on one device." says Irja Emma Gerdes Marketing Manager of Code Factory. Mobile Speak Pocket is already available in 18 languages. It enables a high level of customisation of parameters such as speech or text review. It includes a support for a number of third party applications such as GPS navigation software, turning the PDA into a powerful and scalable speech enabled device. Once, SFR, Maroc Telecom, Vodafone, Bouygues Telecom are part of Code Factory customers.

Code Factory selects Acapela text to speech for Mobile Speak.

Code Factory, one of the leading providers of software solutions for mobile professionals and visual accessibility, has recently launched its new software product for the blind and visually impaired. Mobile Speak is a screen reader product for mobile phones that gives access to most of the functionalities of the device. It works with Nokia Series 60 phones as well as the Siemens SX1. The software incorporates Acapela text to speech, resulting in a very natural and pleasant sounding voice. Mobile Speak is available in 15 languages and is 35% less expensive than other comparable products on the market.

Eduard S?nchez Palaz?n, CEO of Code Factory, reported that "Choosing Acapela as the Text-to-speech provider allows us to reach a wide range of different countries, due to the number of languages supported by their technology. The quality of Acapela's speech synthesis is also outstanding."

Operators in some Arab countries have already announced that the speech capabilities of the product will allow them to offer the software to people with reading difficulties.

As some important features of a mobile phone are inherently visual and cannot be made accessible, Mobile Speak will contain a free additional software package which includes a calculator, a sound recorder, a game and an MP3 Player developed by Viking Informatics Ltd. In addition, the specially-adapted web browser Netfront3.1 by Access Systems Europe GmbH will be offered soon at a small fee. This means that it is possible for blind people for the first time to navigate on internet using a mobile phone.
