EDA's information service goes international.

April 11th, 2005

EDA, a new player on the Belgian phone information services board, is adding international coverage to the directory service launched last december.

National and international information is now available to all Belgian phone users, mobile or wired, by calling the same phone number - a european first. Already 90% of all requests are covered, with information for Benelux, Spain, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Denmark and Italy. This coverage will be completed gradually over several months.

Requests for international information are processed by qualified tele-operators in the same way, and more importantly, at the same cost, as national requests.
Acapela's speech synthesis vocalises the search results. The name of the person or company, the phone number and the address are read out to the caller by high quality speech synthesis. The natural quality of Acapela's text to speech, available in 22 languages, ensures a perfect pronunciation and intelligibility of the information, wherever they come from.

This service is designed to answer two kinds of user needs: the needs of professionals, who require great amounts of information in general, and international information in particular, and those of individuals, searching for information to organise their holidays abroad, for example...

"Developing an international directory service was one of our main goals, to cover an unexploited part of the Belgian market. The adaptability and the wide range of languages of Acapela HQ TTS are key elements of our deployment offer, whether as part of the 1313 service in Belgium or in other European projects." Says Alex Gaschard, CEO of EDA.

The international service of 1313 is currently available in French.
