X'Voice, Vocalcom's 4th generation voice based service engine, designed to be the most efficient communication link between company and customer, is the chosen solution for the voice unit in ASP mode (for deployment and maintenance) and uses Acapela's high quality speech synthesis. The research program was launched almost a year ago, to provide a practical way for drivers to select their destination via a very natural interface.
Assisted Navigation, integrated radio-telephones, incoming and outgoing messages, access to online services (hotel booking, parking space reservation... ), and of course the remote diagnostics service to follow the car's condition from a distance: a number of services created for the customers of Peugeot and Citroen. Part of PSA Peugeot Citroen's research program is to study voice control of the equipment and services to allow the drivers hands to stay on the wheel, and their mind on the road.
"Today's high-performance speech technologies are essential to relay customized information from the database to the user in real time. The natural quality and the wide range of languages of Acapela's voices were the perfect solution for an advanced voice portal like X'Voice." Says Anthony Dinis, Director of Strategy and Development at VOCALCOM.
Acapela text to speech reads out any information, with an extremely smooth and natural voice, for easy listening. Acapela's voice is already the guide for the drivers of PSA Peugeot Citroën cars equipped with navigation systems.
